2003 Ukulele Jam
On July 12 of 2003, Puapua, Kamaka, Ukulele Essence, and Outrigger Hotel came together to bring you Ukulele Jam 3.
Ukulele Jam is an annual ukulele workshop for those who are new to the ukulele.

Since the event was advertised on the radio, more people came than we had ukuleles for!
It made us happy to see all of the people gathering for the event, but maybe next year we'll bring more ukes.
The lessons were taught by Bruce Shimabukuro. We provided the ukuleles to those who could not bring their own.
It's fun to watch people smile as they pick up the ukulele for the first time.

Bruce's students were the first up to play, they did so well that many adults in the audience could hardly believe it.

We wonder how good they will be in the future.
After practicing each song, the audience watched Bruce play the full song at regular speed.
Everybody enjoyed watching Bruce play each song so easily.
Many people probably thought that it takes a long to time to get as good as Bruce.
But Bruce was also able to show them the different ways in which an ukulele can be played.
At the end of the workshop, everyone applauded as if they were at a concert!
At the end of the Jam, each sponsor shared some story with the audience.
There were prizes given to the crowd. Free ukulele lessons with Bruce and a free Kamaka ukulele.
We at Puapua gave away T-Shirts and other accessories to the crowd. We had a lot of fun and we encourage more to come out next year!
